Dr Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Moisture Cushion

fullsizeoutput_402dDr Dennis Gross, the genius behind my beloved Alpha Beta Peels, Ferulic+Retinol Serums, basic skincare boosters and of course it wouldn’t be complete without basic hydration products. DrDG line had a Hyaluronic Oil Free Moisture Cushion Moisturizer for the longest time. However early 2017, DrDG launched a new version of this moisturizer called Hyaluronic Marine Oil Free Moisture Cushion Moisturizer. Obviously the packaging changed with electric blue plastic jar and metallic lid. See right there it upgraded from Toyota to Lexus!

This post intends on unravelling the differences in formulations, performance and results. First up at the heart of the formulation is ingredient listing:

Predominantly what differentiates the new formulation with the old:

  • The ranking of Sodium Hyaluronate from 12th to 11th ingredient
  • Followed by Caulerpa Lentilliofera Extract aka Algae Extract, which is known to be rich in essential amino acids and B vitamins, enhancing skin’s elasticity and moisture content. Also as you pursue and compare the inci list most of ingredients remain in same order.
  • Tocopherol which is basically Vitamin E
  • Collagen Amino Acids which is suppose to plump and firm the skin
  • Finally, last two new additions to the formula include Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate and Lactobacillus Ferment (recommend reading this post to understand ferments better).

So whilst the soul of the product hasn’t changed, a tiny make over has a new improved sexy version. I didn’t feel any difference in terms of texture, consistency and smell. Continues to be light, fluffy, and the colour is same as well.

So you ask: well did all the new additions of ingredients improve the performance? My Answer is Yes. While my experience with the OLD was nice, nothing I particularly disliked. It left skin hydrated and worked well under makeup too.

Lizard Face.pngThe NEW formulation however kicked the OLD one’s arse. Applied beautifully, absorbs immediately (also sometimes mixed with DrDG Hydration booster), and truly leaves skin plump all day. At work, the temperature control is horrible and during winters the heating sucks every bit of moisture leaving me a lizard face 👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽

I used this through the cooler months and thoroughly enjoyed it. Its extremely rare I use the same moisturizer daily, every single day. With the new one, I didn’t miss a day. I got through it in 3-4 months. Also layering with DrDG Hydration booster worked really well. Both hydration products are light but majorly impactful.

Birchbox – September 2014

P1000840

Whoooop Whooooop…….my favorite time of the month when I receive a package from Birchbox.

P1000839

Avene Cleanance Soap Free Gel Cleanser – I have always adored Avene brand and loved their spray water (can’t remember the sophisticated name of it). Anyway yet to try this one, will get back to you in few days.

Harvey Prince Hello – Emmmmm don’t know. Smells nice but disappears in an hour. Seriously?!

Macadamia Professional Healing Oil Spray – LOVE I have been wanting to try this product for a while and now I don’t know why I waited this long. Easy spray, light weight oil and my dry ends thank me for this.

Temptu Highlighter – WHAT? WHY? Birchbox seriously look at my profile before you send me stuff like this! This one was epic fail.

Tocca Crema da Mano – Me limey, needed hand cream for work and this is good option. Doesn’t leave my hands with greasy feeling that my finger slips off the keyboard…you know what I mean Jelly Bean 😉

Chapstick Hydration Stick – I haven’t tried yet, will get back to you and lets see if it makes itself to my Lip Balm Trail.

What do you think of this box? Could they have done better?

Winery Tasting Skincare Edition

P1000826Recently when I published my weekly Good Morning post, in my comments section I found out A Vibrant Day was soon visiting Napa Valley. So I reminisced my recent visit and remembered all that wine tasting (strictly tasting) wreaked slight havoc on my skin. I know red wine (my personal preference) is packed with goodness of antioxidants however they never fully transferred to my skin. So here’s a quick guide to skincare essentials for a getaway to the wine region.

Goes without saying, plenty of water to keep everything hydrated and ensure continuous flushing of toxins from your system. Grazing healthy snacks all day helps since the alcohol doesn’t mix as quickly with your bloodstream and you stand a better chance of covering more wine tastings;)

I really hope you have a fab trip and I can’t wait for my next one 😉

Indeed Labs – Hydraluron & Peptabright…Indeed Splendid!

Today I’ll be talking about Indeed Lab’s fab creation called Hydraluron & Peptabright.

P1000704

Hydraluron

I absolutely love this product and once again thanks to Mrs. Hirons I’ve been through countless tubes of this goodness. It’s a clear gel with no offensive smell or anything offensive about it, whack it on straight after toning in morning followed by moisturizer and sunscreen. It keeps my skin hydrated for most part of day. Hydraluron has opened my eyes to the concept of dehydration suffered by all skin types (dry, oily, normal, combination). Yes I bravely and openly admit my ignorance about dehydration concept until last 4-5 years ago.

Hydraluron – $24.99 (on sale)

Peptabright

Now dear where have you been? Or have I been living under a rock. The latter seems more of a possibility. Anyway, the website claims the product can even skin tone, reduce and lighten hyperpigmentation, prevent, treat and diminish dark spots, restore luminosity and radiance to the skin, prevent the formation of future dark spots and fight against photo-aging, Stimulate cell turnover and Maintain skin’s hydration.

Unfortunately I don’t use this product every night, but whenever I do my skin always looks brighter and radiant next morning. Because I haven’t used it consistently, can’t say for sure if it has helped me with dark spots or pigmentation but certainly boosts radiance to my skin. Defo repurchase!

PeptaBright – $22.49 (on sale)P1000701I’m very eager to try Eyesilix Eye Cream and Retinol Reface Retinol Reface, anyone tried them, share your thoughts in comments below.

Availability in USA – I’ve seen Indeed Labs products bring stocked up at Walgreens which makes me very happy. Well done Walgreens.
