Wine Tasting – Vineyard Skincare Edition

P1000826Recently when I published my weekly Good Morning post, in my comments section I found out A Vibrant Day was soon visiting Napa Valley. So I reminisced my recent visit and remembered all that wine tasting (strictly tasting) wreaked slight havoc on my skin. I know red wine (my personal preference) is packed with goodness of antioxidants however they never fully transferred to my skin. So here’s a quick guide to skincare essentials for a getaway to the wine region.

Goes without saying, plenty of water to keep everything hydrated and ensure continuous flushing of toxins from your system. Grazing healthy snacks all day helps since the alcohol doesn’t mix as quickly with your bloodstream and you stand a better chance of covering more wine tastings;)

I really hope you have a fab trip and I can’t wait for my next one 😉

Face Oils Edition – Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate

P1000749I’ve read endless blog posts on this product raving how darn fabulous it is etc. Now for what I’m about to say many would disagree as I’m on other side of fence with this one, the other side being the not so positive review. Having said that, it’s not negative either. Please allow me to elaborate….

When I’m perplexed why a product din’t work for me as other reviewers experienced, frequently it’s because of an expectation gap. So I take a step back and review what the brand claims and take it from there. Kiehl’s claim to regenerate, repair and replenish skin. They have also marketed this product as night time facial. Love the concept period.

Were my results that of a night time facial? Ermmm depends what kind of facial. If it’s simply hydrating and maintenance then yes. But if the facial that claims dramatic results on my skin, I’d say no.

P1000751

I picked up 2 samples (2ml) from Kiehl’s store and each of them lasted me more than week (overall test period 3 weeks). It’s not like I’m tossing oil and balsamic dressing on my face, I need just a few drops. Thank you Kiehl’s for generous samples.

I HATE the fact that the website does not present full list of ingredients of the product. All I could see on the website was Evening Primrose Oil, Lavender Essential Oil and signature Kiehl’s ingredient called Squalene. Sure they all sound great, but what else do you have in there?

Overall to conclude my rant, it’s nice but not ‘WOW where da hell have you been?’ I guess The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil makes me feel that way. Would I purchase it? Depends on many factors such as: is the TBS Vitamin E oil out of stock and I need oil, perhaps. If its discontinued then yes.

Face Oils Edition – The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil

P1000650

I often wonder if this product hadn’t entered my life what would my skin be like. At first when I read about Serum-in-oil I was thinking what the heck? Like seriously what the hell is serum in oil, is it new marketing gimmick or is it really something? Little did I know when I bought it, it sure is something.

The Body Shop claims it has highest concentration in wheatgerm oil, non-greasy and fast absorbing. I would have to agree. I use it as a part of my night time skincare regime, on cleansed and toned skin. I squirt a drop on my forehead, each cheek and chin straight from pipette. The oil…serum (whatever) soaks in my skin immediately without leaving any greasy residue. The only time I’ve had a greasy residue is when I got tad carried away and applied more than needed. In the morning my skin looks plump, fresh, calm and well rested. Occasionally when I breakout near my jaw or chin, I apply this product over my breakout and it instantly calms and nourishes my angry spots and its well on its way to recovery.

P1000651Having witnessed the benefits of this product, I have used it on other parts of my body too. Such as when I may have a rash or excessive dryness on back of my hand or experiencing dry feet. It doesn’t bother me using so liberally everywhere because a little goes long way and it’s pretty cheap/reasonably priced.

So to conclude, I would definitely recommend this product to anyone with any type of skin issues. It is surely a wonderful addition to face oils family. Plus I may have figured out why it’s called Serum-in-oil. Possibly because its texture is oily but after effect is like serum….makes sense :s

The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil – $26 (keep an eye out for 40% on website – $15.60, bargain!)
